Yale undergraduate students present more than 600 extracurricular performances yearly—a cappella and instrumental music, dance, theater, musical theater, and opera. Much of this work takes place in residential college theaters with 50 to 100 seats and postage stamp stages. In 2010, Nextstage Design principals Gene Leitermann and Tony Forman, while associated with Theatre Projects Consultants, led a needs assessment, programming, and concept design effort for a larger theater with a more capable stage. The project is on hold pending funding.
