Goodspeed Opera House
East Haddam, Connecticut

The Goodspeed Opera House, the historic “Home of the American Musical,” has been producing musical theater on the banks of the Connecticut River since it was renovated and reopened in 1963. In the 65 years since it has produced 70 premieres, exported 21 productions to Broadway, and earned two special Tony awards. Now Nextstage Design and Centerbrook Architects are planning its first major renovation. The audience experience will be enhanced with expanded public areas, new seating, improved sightlines, and new HVAC systems. The stage will get much needed infrastructure updates. The project is currently in design.
