Blackman Auditorium
Boston, Massachusetts

Northeastern University’s busy Blackman Auditorium hosts many events each year, which made its renovation a particular challenge. Working in phases to accommodate the Auditorium’s packed calendar, William Rawn Associates transformed the theater’s drab and worn finishes and replaced outdated equipment. While serving as project manager for Theatre Projects Consultants, Nextstage Design principal Tony Forman oversaw the reconfiguration of the green room and dressing rooms, coordinated new house lighting on self-climbing battens, and specified new dimming and controls for stage lighting and a fresh complement of stage masking draperies. A new front of house lighting truss and side light positions provide improved lighting to the forestage. Blackman Auditorium is now ready to handle any show or lecture the users can book.
