Benjamin & Marion Schuster Performing Arts Center
Dayton, Ohio

The Mead Theatre, the centerpiece of the Schuster Center, is designed to accommodate Broadway, opera, ballet, and orchestral music performances. The hall seats 2,300 with a Broadway-sized orchestra pit and 2,200 when configured for opera or ballet. Overhead acoustic canopies and three orchestra lifts make the front of the auditorium highly flexible. For Philharmonic concerts, the lifts extend the forestage 27 feet into the auditorium, replicating the feel and acoustics of a concert hall. Nextstage Design principal Gene Leitermann served as project manager for Theatre Projects Consultants.
